Calvary's Elders: Overseers of the Church
At Calvary Baptist Church of Lenexa, we are blessed to be led by faithful men who serve as elders—also called overseers—of the church. Scripture makes it clear in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 that the church is to be guided by leaders who meet specific qualifications of godly character and spiritual maturity. We believe this pattern is not only biblical but also the most loving and effective way to shepherd God’s people.
Our elders are men who have been called by God and recognized by the church family for their example of Christlike living. They devote themselves to prayer, to the study and teaching of God’s Word, and to walking alongside our congregation with wisdom and care. Their role is not one of mere administration but of spiritual guidance—helping us grow in faith, encouraging us to walk in obedience, and pointing us always toward Jesus Christ.
Through their leadership, we are reminded that the church is not ultimately built on programs or personalities, but on Christ Himself. Our elders joyfully dedicate their time, energy, and lives to the service of God’s people here at Calvary, trusting in the Holy Spirit to equip and sustain them as they shepherd the flock entrusted to their care.

Calvary's Deacons: The Church's Servant Leaders
At Calvary, we are grateful for the gift of deacons—men whose lives reflect the heart of Christ through humble service. Scripture reminds us in 1 Timothy 3 that deacons are to be men of integrity, spiritual maturity, and devotion, and it is with those qualities in mind that our congregation has recognized and affirmed them for this role.
The very word deacon means “servant,” and that captures the essence of their ministry. Deacons lead not from a place of authority or recognition but by quietly and faithfully meeting the needs of others. Whether caring for practical matters of the church, supporting families in times of difficulty, or helping ensure that ministry runs smoothly, their work is a living picture of Christ’s call to serve rather than to be served.
Calvary is blessed to be served by a team of five Godly men in the role of Deacons. Through their example, our deacons remind us that true greatness in God’s kingdom is found in selfless service. Their dedication strengthens our fellowship, supports the work of the elders, and encourages the whole body of Christ to use their gifts for God’s glory.
