Calvary's Story

Since 1960, Calvary Baptist Church of Lenexa has stood in the heart of our community, joyfully serving Christ and faithfully partnering with the Southern Baptist Convention. From the very beginning, our purpose has been clear: to glorify God in all things.

The Bible reminds us that God created us for His glory (Revelation 4:11). True meaning and joy in life—both now and for eternity—are found not in self-focus, but in worshiping the One who made us. While the world often turns its attention to self-improvement or temporary comfort, the church’s highest calling is to lift our eyes upward and give praise to God, “who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20–21).

At Calvary, our motto captures this truth: we live for His glory and our good. When we honor God as He deserves, we discover that His ways are always for our ultimate joy and blessing. This conviction shapes everything we do.

We have a deep and shared desire to live according to God’s design and to help others do the same. Every ministry, every gathering, and every act of service is ultimately about fulfilling our eternal purpose: to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. We are a family of believers who love God and care for one another. Together, we’re learning to live out the good news of Jesus and share His hope with our community.

Everything we do flows from a simple purpose — to bring glory to God and show His goodness to the people around us.
